IndexNow is an easy way for website owners to instantly inform search engines about the latest content changes on their site. IndexNow is a simple communication protocol that lets search engines know that a URL and its content has been added, updated, or deleted, allowing them to quickly reflect those changes in search results.

Without IndexNow, it can take days to weeks for search engines to detect that content has changed since search engines don't frequently crawl every URL.

With IndexNow, search engines immediately become aware of "changed URLs, which helps them prioritize when indexing those URLs and thereby limit organic crawling to discover new content."

IndexNow is offered under an Attribution-ShareAlike Creative Commons License and is supported by Microsoft Bing, Yandex and Cloudflare.

Search engine requirements

Search engines that implement the IndexNow protocol agree that submitted URLs will be automatically shared with all other participating search engines. To participate, search engines must have a significant presence in at least one market.
